Circle of Friends ~ an interdenominational group with various churches and other groups bringing in food to feed the homeless on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Front door is unlocked at 4:00 p.m. and relocked at 5:00 p.m. Exception: the 2nd weekend of each month Wesley United Methodist Church, at the top of High Street, plays host to the group. A sign on our front door serves as a reminder.
NURU ~ is an international organization, based in CA with an office in Morgantown to have presence on the East Coast. The purpose is to help places around the world become productive by teaching the locals to make better use of the land and its resources.
Habitat for Humanity & Chestnut Mountain Ranch ~ during the spring we accommodate work groups. They sleep bringing their own sleeping bags and are allowed shower, bathroom, kitchen, and dining room privileges.
Vacation time—Pastor Al and Cheryl will be unavailable June 23-July 7. Rev. Dick Hepler will be filling in on June 26, and Rev. Don Phares will fill in on July 3.
New Security and Lock System – Our new lock system is almost in place. Beginning Thursday, the 9th, our new system for added security and protection will take full effect. If you have a key and have not received a new one or do not have one and think you need one, contact the church office soon.
Advent Devotions– It’s not too early to be thinking about Advent. You are invited and encouraged to submit an Advent devotion to the church as we renew a past custom. We will be putting together these devotions written by church members and would love to have you contribute.
Interested in Small Groups? – We always would like people to join our small groups. If you would be interested in joining a small group, please speak to one of the leaders: Mary Lemmon (with a daytime group), Nabil and Nina Jabbour, Don and Sandy Phares, or Al and Cheryl Cooper, or call the church office.
Missions Help Needed – We are collecting food for Christian Help’s Food Pantry. There is a great need for food in our area! There is a basket in the narthex for your food donations. There is also a box for any clothing that is in very good shape to donate. Thank you for your help!
Craft items – if you have any ideas for the bazaar, please give them to Fern, Mary Alice, Mary Lou, or call the office. If you have any craft supplies we can use to create items for the bazaar or craft items made that we can sell, bring them to the office. Please join in the fun crafting with us.
Bible Study: every Wednesday, 7:00 p.m., this summer at the Cooper's. To Him be the glory as He has started our renaissance . . . as usual, His way not ours! Hurray!
Radio Program: Our radio ministry is sponsored entirely by the membership of First Baptist Church. If you are interested in helping to underwrite it financially, please contact Dr. Cooper.
Sunday Fellowship: Join us for a time of Fellowship in the Chapel each Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. and again, following the service at noon. Let's get together.
The Women of FBC: Work Days are scheduled for the first Tuesday of each month and the women's circle groups meet on the second Thursday. Barber-Runner Circle will meet at 9:30 a.m., Woofter-Witte-Davis-Afternoon Circle will meet at 1:00 p.m. June Bible Book of the Month is Numbers.
Nursery & Children: Volunteers are needed to take care of the children during the Worship Service & the Bed Babies at 9:40 & 11:00 a.m.
Good News Mountaineer Garage: Dr. Cooper has information on the Good News Mountaineer Garage, which allows donation of cars to be repaired and given to low income West Virginia families. There is also information on the square table in Merritt Chapel beneath the bulletin board.
Good News Newsletter: a group of parishiners get together the last Monday of each month to copy, fold, and prepare the newsletter for mailing. Please feel free to join in the fellowship.
Workers Needed: There are always a few things that need repaired in the church. If you have the skills and time and are interested, please contact Larry Luttrell at 304-599-4388.

Parking: There are temporary permits to use at the meters for Wednesday Bible Study and Choir Rehearsal. You must have a permit to park at a meter or you will be ticketed. These temporary permits will be on the bulletin board at the back door. PLEASE PUT THEM BACK ON THE BULLETIN BOARD BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!!!
